How to store chemical fertilizers in high temperature and humidity

In hot and rainy seasons, chemical fertilizers should be mainly stored in warehouses. The warehouse must be ventilated, cooled, and protected from rain and moisture. There are two methods for storing fertilizer in the warehouse: bulk storage and bag storage.

For nitrogen fertilizers with relatively strong hygroscopicity, such as ammonium, whether in bulk or in bags, in order to avoid agglomeration, the height of the pile and the pile should be controlled, such as 25-40 kg large bags, 20 bags per The pile is of moderate height.

If you choose a cargo shed for storage, the stacking location should be a place with a higher terrain, a flat ground, and no water, with reed mats or plastic film underneath. After the fertilizer is stacked neatly, it shall be covered with plastic film, and the roof shall be erected and covered with thatch cloth to prevent rain.

The storage of chemical fertilizers must be "six preventions":

Anti-volatile ammonia and ammonium bicarbonate are very volatile, so they should be sealed during storage. There are also nitrogen fertilizers and superphosphates that are strictly forbidden to be stacked with alkaline substances such as lime, plant ash, etc., to prevent chemical reactions from causing the volatilization of nitrogen fertilizers and reducing the efficiency of phosphate fertilizers.

Moisture-proof ammonium, lime nitrogen and superphosphate tend to agglomerate after absorbing moisture, which affects the application effect. Also, after ammonium bicarbonate absorbs moisture, nitrogen is volatile, so it must be tightly sealed to avoid contact with air. Therefore, these fertilizers should be stored in a dry, cool place.

Anti-corrosion Calcium superphosphate is corrosive and should be prevented from contact with skin and metal appliances; ammonia water is strongly corrosive to copper and iron, and should be stored in ceramic, plastic, and wooden containers. In addition, chemical fertilizers should not be piled with seeds, and do not use chemical fertilizer bags to pack seeds, so as not to affect seed germination.

Anti-high temperature nitrogen fertilizer will accelerate the loss of nitrogen volatilization when exposed to the sun; ammonium will decompose oxygen at high temperature, which will cause fertilizer failure.

Fireproof ammonium, potassium, etc. have combustion-supporting properties, and should not be stacked with combustibles such as kerosene, gasoline, straw, wood chips, etc. during storage to avoid fire.

Anti-metallic ammonium, potassium, etc., if mixed with copper, iron and other metal powders, once friction and impact, it will cause accidents. Therefore, after these fertilizers become agglomerated and hardened, do not slam them with metal objects, but crush them with heavy objects.
