Occurrence Trend and Control Opinions of Main Diseases and Insects of Cotton Seedlings

I. Cotton leafhopper According to Jingzhou City Plant Protection Station on May 9th investigation at the Taihu Lake Farm in Ximen, cotton leafhoppers in the cotton field are widespread. There are 50--80% of planthoppers and 70--380 maggots. All met or exceeded the prevention and control standards, and its occurrence was similar to that of the same period last year. Due to the expansion of planting area of insect-resistant cotton in our city and the weather forecast that the rainfall in mid-to-late May will be relatively high, it will be dominated by rainy weather, but the rainfall intensity is not strong, and the inhibition of the occurrence of cotton leafhoppers at the seedling stage is not obvious. It is expected that cotton Seedlings in the seedling stage are moderately heavy (Grade 4) and will form the first hazard peak in late May.
II. Cotton field snail I stood on the front of the cotton field and the broad bean field of the Ximen branch of the Taihu Lake farm on May 9 and surveyed. There were 3-19 snails per square meter, with an average of 11.8 heads, which was heavier in the same period since 2001. According to a recent survey conducted by the public security, Honghu, and Jingzhou districts and counties, the average number of snails per square meter is 5 to 10, which is higher than last year. The cotton planting area in our city is large, which is conducive to the transfer of snails. The weather forecast is mostly rainy in mid-to late May. Rainy weather is the main reason, and the humidity in the field is high. It is beneficial to its occurrence. The cotton field snails in our city are expected to be moderately heavy ( Level 4), a peak of damage formed around mid-May.
Prevention opinion:
1. The plant protection departments at all levels should strengthen field investigations and pay close attention to the occurrence dynamics of cotton leafhoppers, snails, and other pests during the seedling stage, and should immediately organize prevention and control of the fields that meet the prevention and control targets.
2. For the field plots with 14% or 100 plots of alfalfa strains in cotton leafhoppers, control should be applied universally, and field plots should be selected. Medications can be used to prevent and control pesticide sprays such as broom net, Wessei, ransom, Nisolul, etc. The liquid should be sprayed on the opposite side of the leaves.
3, after the wheat harvest in time to pick up the cultivating loose soil, destroy the snail eggs in the soil, reduce the occurrence. In the early morning or early evening, artificial capture (overcast on rainy days) can be carried out to catch snails on wheat and other pre-crop crops and bring them out of the field as feed or manure. For snails, it is possible to use pesticides such as Meda and Chujue to trap and kill field snails.
4. The prevention and control of locusts in the early stage of cotton minimizes or eliminates the use of broad-spectrum chemical pesticides, reduces the killing effect on natural enemies, protects natural enemies of cotton fields, and fully exerts its control effect. Only when the leaf rolling rate reaches 10% Blocks can only be treated with pesticides such as Dagong Chen and Baiyijing.
