Potatoes that prevent diabetes can be successfully cultivated

Canadian researchers have succeeded in developing a potato that can be used to prevent diabetes. This particular potato has been tested on rats and has been shown to prevent Type I diabetes. Diabetes is caused by the production of islet cells in the body. Scientists have been trying to find a way to stop the body's immune system from killing islet cells. By taking a large amount of GAD protein, the islet cells can be prevented from being attacked by the immune system. However, a large amount of GAD protein cannot be obtained. Scientists have implanted a gene that can produce GAD protein in the potato DNA, so that the genetically modified potato contains a lot of GAD protein. Because the mouse's pancreas and immune system are similar to humans, the researchers used mice to conduct experiments and verify that their findings suggest that type I diabetes can be effectively prevented.
