As the air begins to crisp and the days grow shorter, signaling the arrival of autumn, it's always a time for reflection—especially when it comes to our wardrobes. Here in Florida, where "fall" is more of a concept than a reality, we don't quite experience the same seasonal transition as others do. Still, there's something undeniably cozy about swapping out summer fabrics for the richer textures of fall, even if it means enduring a bit of heat in the process.
Recently, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Janie and Jack to style some pieces for my boys, and it felt like the perfect excuse to refresh our wardrobe staples. My kids were thrilled at the prospect of a photoshoot, especially when it meant trying on new clothes. It’s always a treat to add fresh pieces to our rotation, especially when they’re as high-quality as the items from Janie and Jack.
The first piece that caught my eye was a pair of elephant-embroidered shorts for Skylar. They're adorable and perfectly suited for our warmer climate. Alongside the shorts, I also picked up some shorts and polos, which I adore for their durability and style. For Brayden, I chose a polo from the summer collection, paired with a pair of sandals and a belt already in our closet. Accessories can make all the difference, and Janie and Jack’s offerings extend beyond clothing to include sunglasses and shoes that Skylar adores.
One of the joys of styling is finding pieces that blend seamlessly with existing wardrobe favorites. A few strategically chosen items can breathe new life into your closet without overwhelming it. For instance, a new scarf or a pair of boots can instantly elevate an outfit. This season, I’m particularly drawn to lightweight scarves and boots, as well as a chunky knit sweater that won’t feel bulky. It’s all about finding that balance between style and comfort!
While I wish we could dive into all the fall essentials right away, our Florida weather isn’t quite ready for heavier layers just yet. But I’m keeping my eye on some must-haves like fleece pullovers, corduroy pants, and equestrian-style blouses for future seasons.
