Babywearing // The Wrap

Alright, let me rewrite this as if it were a personal blog post, adding some more detail and authenticity: --- So, guess what? He's finally here! Our little bundle of joy made his grand entrance into the world on August 12th. And right now, Finn is peacefully nestled on my chest while I’m typing this out. It’s pure bliss, honestly. ![Babywearing by Fresh Mommy Blog](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/025e2576afd0e7965d322d8b9a5a63d5.jpg) Now, I have a confession to make. I was absolutely terrified of baby wraps. With Max, our firstborn, I mostly used a sling just for trips to the grocery store. And later, I did try a carrier a few times when he was a bit older, but it wasn’t something I used extensively. However, with baby number two, I had this gut feeling that I needed to be more hands-free and flexible. You see, I wanted to keep up with Max, who’s always running around and getting into mischief. And let’s face it—newborns can be quite demanding, so having both hands free seemed essential. That’s when I discovered the Solly Baby Wrap. I’ve been following Elle Rowley, the brilliant mind behind Solly Baby Wrap, on Instagram for quite some time. She became part of our Baby Booty giveaway back in March, and since then, her feed has been filled with stunning images of her wearing her newborn while juggling life—whether it’s working, attending dance classes with her older kids, or simply strolling around town. Her posts made it look so effortless and stylish, and I thought, "Hey, I can totally do this!" A few months ago, she posted a series of video tutorials on how to properly wrap a baby, and they caught my attention once again. Watching those videos gave me the courage to try it myself, even though I was petrified of looking like a complete idiot. To give you a good laugh, here are a few snapshots of me practicing my wrapping technique while I was eight months pregnant. Let’s just say I looked ridiculous, hilariously so. And I felt downright silly. But hey, practice makes perfect, right? With the help of our 12-pound dog, Harley, I eventually mastered the art of wrapping. By the time Finn arrived, I was ready. ![Babywearing // The Wrap by Fresh Mommy Blog](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/0f4ef988cb4856f920435937e82ad2e4.jpg) Fast forward to today, and I’ve been using the Solly Baby Wrap nearly every single day since Finn was born two weeks ago. As I mentioned in my previous post about managing a baby budget, we’re using a convertible car seat for Finn, which isn’t exactly portable. That’s why the wrap has become indispensable. Whether it’s for doctor visits, dinner outings, or even church services, I’ve found the wrap incredibly useful. It’s a great way to shield Finn from germs, especially since newborns are so vulnerable. And let’s not forget how much easier it is to cook or clean when Finn is content to snuggle close. One piece of advice I’d offer to anyone trying a wrap for the first time: If you’re heading somewhere and plan to use the wrap right away, put it on at home before you leave. Trust me, it feels way less awkward than trying to figure it out in the parking lot. This little trick has saved me so much hassle, especially when I’m juggling two kids! The best part? We’ve partnered with Solly Baby Wrap to give away one of their wraps, along with Elle’s new book, Carrying Baby. How cool is that? Congratulations to the lucky winner, Kathryn Rosellini! Thank you all for participating, and special thanks to Solly Baby Wrap for making this possible. There were 24 hours for the winner to claim the prize, and if they didn’t respond, another winner would have been chosen. ![Autumn signature](http://bsg-i.nbxc.com/blog/8c73fbc4ddfc9d061a85f1554fc28f2c.png) Solly Baby provided me with the wrap free of charge, and all opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No other compensation was received for this post. Good luck to everyone who enters future giveaways! Oh, and here are some outtakes from my wrap practice sessions when I was still pregnant. Prepare yourself for a good chuckle! ![You probably shouldn't hold your baby like I'm holding this stuffed animal.
