You know how some people say that looking at cute baby faces makes their hearts melt? Well, for me, it's more like my ovaries doing a happy dance. Of course, if you're a guy reading this, you're probably just sitting there scratching your head, wondering why I'm even talking about this. And maybe feeling a little awkward. Fair enough—I'll stop with the lactation talk now and focus on the baby instead. Because let's be honest, guys aren't usually known for their baby skills.
This little bundle of joy happens to be our adorable cousin. We were thrilled when he joined the world—and even more so when we found out that his dad managed to make it back home from Iraq just three hours before his mom headed off to the hospital! (If you've followed along before, you might recall hearing about him.) We've had the chance to hang out with him at our place, and let me tell you, Baby Blue has been absolutely smitten. She's always ready with a pacifier, a blanket, or a bottle whenever he needs anything. That's just how things roll around here.
As the days went by, though, things got a bit… messy. Literally. Our little visitor started squirming and fussing, signaling that it was time for a diaper change. Without hesitation, we set him down on the changing mat, and his mom got to work. Now, Baby Blue has been super involved in taking care of him, so it didn't seem odd to her at all to help out during one of these moments. But then, out of nowhere, she blurted out, "There's his tail, right there!" My first thought was, "What is she talking about?" Then it clicked—she wasn't referring to some sort of mythical creature, but rather, well… you know.
Yep. Little boys have 'tails,' and that's about all we're going to say about that. Honestly, though, it was kind of funny to see Baby Blue's reaction. She was totally unfazed, which made me wonder if she already knew more than I did about these things. Either way, it was a reminder that babies bring both joy and unexpected moments—like discovering that tails aren't just for dogs.
All in all, spending time with this little guy has been such a blessing. He’s brought so much laughter and chaos into our lives, and even though there are moments like the "tail discovery," they’re all part of the adventure. Parenting is unpredictable, and I think that’s what makes it so rewarding. Anyway, I’ll leave you with that thought while I go figure out where Baby Blue learned about tails in the first place!
