The house is finally settling down after the hustle and bustle of the holidays. The Christmas tree still stands proudly in the corner, its glow softening the room, while a flickering candle adds a warm, inviting scent to the air. We’ve become the "that house" on the block—those neighbors who keep their holiday spirit alive long after everyone else has packed it away. I can picture the sideways glances and gentle teasing from our neighbors as they drive past at night, seeing our lights still twinkling and carols still playing.
As I ease into the new year, there’s a strange mix of nostalgia and excitement in the air. Chris and I decided to give ourselves a Christmas gift this year: renovating our bathroom come January. It’s not going to be anything too dramatic—just a fresh coat of paint and a new vanity—but it feels like a step toward something bigger. Today, with Aliyah off at her grandparents', I bundled up my youngest and let my creativity run wild during an impromptu errand-filled adventure. Some errands were mundane, like stopping by the bank or picking up groceries, but others were pure inspiration, like wandering through the endless aisles of IKEA, imagining how each piece could transform our space.
I don’t know if it was the quiet connection with my littlest one or the kaleidoscope of colors at IKEA, but I could feel the spark of creativity igniting within me. There’s something magical about spending uninterrupted moments with my kids—it always seems to unlock a part of me that’s been dormant. Maybe it’s time for a special outing with my older daughter next.

Perhaps it's not just the thought of swapping out the old gold faucet for something sleeker that stirs my imagination—it’s the promise of change itself. And who knows? Maybe it’s also the thrill of knowing we’re holding onto a little bit of magic a little longer than most.

Looking ahead, I can sense the energy shifting, urging me to dive deeper into projects and dreams I’ve been putting off. A date with the big sister is definitely in order.

There’s so much more I want to explore—new spaces, new stories, new beginnings. Life is a journey, isn’t it? And right now, I’m ready to embrace whatever comes next.
