1, the feed particle size should be appropriate. The soft-shelled turtle eats first bites the food and then dives into the water to swallow. If the feed pellets are too large, it is inconvenient for ingestion. Therefore, the size of the pelleted feed should be suitable. When the soft-shelled turtle weighs less than 10 grams, it requires a feed diameter of less than 0.5 cm and a length of less than 1 cm. When the soft-shelled turtle weighs 10 to 50 grams, the feed diameter is less than 0.7 cm, the length is less than 1.2 cm, and when the turtle weighs 50 to 150 grams, the feed diameter is less than 0.8. In centimeters, the length is less than 1.4 centimeters; turtles weigh more than 150 grams, feed diameter is less than 1 centimeter, length is about 1.5 centimeters. According to different specifications for feeding palatability feed, feed utilization can reach more than 90%.
2, add adhesives. Adding binders in feed, such as gluten meal, algae gum, konjac meal, etc., can increase feed elasticity and adhesiveness, and can not easily spread when water is encountered, which can effectively improve feed utilization.
3, according to the season and specifications determine the amount of feeding. The protein content of juvenile fish feed is required to be 50%, and that of juvenile and adult turtles is about 45%. Feeding throughout the year should be based on the principle of “two light, medium weightâ€, that is, less feeding in the spring and late autumn, and more feeding in the middle, generally accounting for 70% to 80% of the annual feeding amount from summer to autumn. In general, the artificial turtle feed is 5% to 8% of its body weight, and the adult turtle is 3% to 5% of its body weight. If feeding fresh animal feed, the fed amount should account for 10% to 15% of the body weight of the soft-shelled turtle. It is advisable to eat within 1 hour after feeding.
4. Keep food environment quiet. After feeding the feed, a large number of soft-shelled turtles will feed on the food table. If they are disturbed, they will immediately dive into the water, causing the feed to be scattered in the pool and wasted. Therefore, in order to ensure that the soft-shelled turtle can eat well and reduce feed wastage, the environment surrounding the soft-shelled turtle pond must be kept quiet after feeding.
5, set up a simple feeding box. In order to avoid crawling back and forth during the feeding of the turtle, the feed can be dropped into the water and can be fed in a simple feeding frame. The frame can be made of plastic or wood. The bottom plate is nailed with bamboo or wooden nails, and the distance between the nails can be extended into the neck of the soft-shelled turtle. It is advisable for the body not to go in. The feed is placed in the feeding box so that the turtle can only stick its head into the feeding.
