Summer swine flu prevention and control

Swine influenza is an acute respiratory infection in pigs that occurs frequently during the seasons. The clinical features are sudden onset and rapidly spread throughout the group, manifested as upper airway inflammation. Its pathogen is swine influenza virus. The swine flu virus H1N1 is a member of the genus Influenza A virus. In addition to infecting pigs, it can also cause disease. Influenza viruses are present in the respiratory secretions of sick pigs and poisoned pigs. They are not very resistant to heat and sunlight, and general disinfectants can kill them quickly. A preliminary diagnosis can be made based on prevalence and clinical symptoms. Pigs of different ages, genders and breeds are susceptible to swine influenza virus. The source of infection is sick pigs and pigs with poison. The virus is present in the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract. After the secretion is discharged, it is invaded into the susceptible pig through the respiratory tract by the droplets. It rapidly multiplies in the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract, causing disease quickly and expelling the virus outward, so that it spreads rapidly, often in 2 ~3 days spread to the whole group. Rehabilitation pigs and recessively infected pigs can be poisoned for a long time. They are the main host of swine flu virus and often the source of swine flu infection. The general incidence rate is high and the mortality rate is very low. However, if the infection is secondary to Pasteurella, Streptococcus pneumoniae, etc., the condition is aggravated.

The incubation period of this disease is 2 to 7 days. Sudden fever, lack of energy, loss of appetite or lack of food, often squeezed together, do not want to move, difficulty breathing, coughing, mucus secretions from the eyes and nose. If the management of the disease is not appropriate, it can be complicated by bronchial pneumonia, pleurisy, etc., thereby increasing the mortality rate. The difference between the common cold and influenza is that the former has a slightly higher body temperature, is sporadic, has a short course of disease, and the incidence is not as acute as the flu, and other symptoms are not much different. The lesions are mainly in the respiratory organs, the nasal, larynx, trachea and bronchial mucosa are congested, and there are many foamy mucus on the surface, sometimes mixed with blood. The lung lesions vary in severity, and some have only mild inflammation on the margins. In severe cases, the lesions are purplish red.

There is currently no specific treatment. The principle of treatment is mainly to alleviate the symptoms, avoid secondary infections, add and clear the feed and a week of collapse (or Wantefeiling), while adding green energy and glucose to the drinking water to supplement energy and nutrition, and improve the resistance of pigs. Fever without eating pigs can be injected with Bupleurum and cephalosporin twice a day for 3 days.
