Newly grafted fruit saplings safely overwinter four strokes

The newly grafted fruit tree seedlings, due to the wound healing, have poor stress resistance and are prone to frost damage in winter. In order to ensure safe wintering of newly grafted fruit trees, the following technical measures should be taken.

Timely freezing water

Before the soil freezes, the seedlings trails or furrows are ploughed with furrows or artificially excavated, followed by a ditch of frozen water poured into the ditch, and the perfusion must be filled. Therefore, when the soil begins to freeze, it contributes to the soil insulation and maintains sufficient moisture in the soil to meet the water consumption of the fruit trees during the winter.

Root and neck soil

Before the freezing, the root of the grafted fruit tree seedlings is cultivated to a depth of 20 cm to prevent the roots from freezing, so as to facilitate safe wintering of the seedlings.

Set up a cold bar

According to the terrain of the nursery, use corn stalks before soil freezing, set up a windbreak every 2-3 seedbeds (or seedlings), or pile up a 50cm high mound on the northwest side of the young seedlings. Windproof.

Seedling dry white

Take 5 kg of quick lime and 0.5 kg of salt, respectively, to open it with water. Mix and stir to add 0.5 kg of vegetable oil and 0.5 kg of lime sulfur to prepare a whitening agent. Before the soil is frozen, brush or sprinkle on the seedlings to make the surface of the whole plant white or gray. This can not only reflect sunlight, prevent rapid temperature changes, enhance cold resistance, but also effectively control the wintering of the pests on the trunk.
