**Prevention of Leaf Spot Disease in Celery**
Celery leaf spot disease, also known as early blight or leaf spot, can affect the plant from the seedling stage. The disease primarily targets the leaves, but it can also damage the petioles and stems. On the leaves, small yellowish-green water-soaked spots appear first, which gradually expand into round or irregular shapes, ranging from 4 to 10 mm in size. The center of the lesions turns gray-brown, while the edges are slightly darker and less defined. In severe cases, the lesions may merge, and a layer of gray or white mold develops on the affected areas.
To manage the disease, it is recommended to apply a 58% Saifu solution diluted at 600 times, or use 10 ml of bacterial asepsis during the early stages of infection. Under protective conditions, combining 58% Saifu with Chunyu No. 1 can be effective, or you can use a 45% chlorothalonil smoke agent at a rate of 300 grams per mu. Apply the treatment once every nine days for best results.
Another effective preventive measure is to spray the celery seedlings during the first spring rain. This practice has been shown to significantly reduce the occurrence of the disease and improve overall plant health. It's important to monitor the crop regularly and take prompt action when symptoms first appear to prevent widespread infection. Proper field hygiene, such as removing infected plant debris and ensuring good air circulation, can also help reduce the risk of leaf spot disease.
