**Prevention of Leaf Spot Disease in Celery**
Celery leaf spot disease, also known as early blight or leaf spot, can affect plants from the seedling stage. This disease primarily damages the leaves, but it can also impact the petioles and stems. On the leaves, small yellowish-green, water-soaked spots appear first, which gradually expand into round or irregular shapes, ranging from 4 to 10 mm in size. The center of the lesions turns gray-brown, while the edges are slightly darker and less defined. In severe cases, the lesions may merge together, and a layer of grayish-white mold develops on the affected areas.
To control the disease, it is recommended to spray with a 58% Saifu solution diluted at 600 times, or use 10 ml of bacterial asepsis. Under protective conditions, you can combine 58% Saifu with Chunyu No. 1, or apply a 45% chlorothalonil smoke agent at a rate of 300 grams per mu. It is advised to apply the treatment once every 9 days for effective control.
Another effective preventive measure is to spray the celery seedlings during the first spring rain. This practice has been proven to significantly reduce the occurrence of the disease. By implementing these methods, farmers can protect their celery crops and ensure better yields. It's important to monitor the plants regularly and take prompt action when symptoms appear to prevent the spread of the disease. Additionally, maintaining good field hygiene and proper irrigation practices can further support healthy plant growth and reduce the risk of infection.
