This variety is an early maturing type, with no vines, and has a growth period of 90 to 95 days. The plant height ranges from 40 to 60 cm, with 2 to 5 branches on the main stem and 8 to 16 leaves per plant. It produces oval-shaped red grains, with a 100-seed weight of 60 to 70 grams. This variety is highly resistant to fertilizer, thrives in dense planting conditions, adapts well to various environments, and offers excellent quality. As a result, it is widely popular for foreign trade exports.
For plot selection, choose neutral, fertile soil with good drainage. Avoid low-lying areas and do not plant in fields previously used for legumes.
Sowing should be done using disease-free seeds with clear characteristics of the species. Sow 1 to 2 days before the last frost, when the soil temperature stabilizes at 10°C. The ideal sowing altitude is between 1900 to 2400 meters above sea level, typically between April and June. The seeding rate is 8 to 11 kg per mu, with a depth of 10 to 15 cm. After sowing, water the seedlings promptly.
Planting is best done in a dense and rational pattern. The spacing between rows should be 30 cm, and between plants 40 cm. Each hole should contain 2 to 3 seeds, with 5000 to 5500 holes per acre, or 10,000 to 11,000 seeds per acre. It can also be planted alongside corn or using a net seeding method.
Apply base fertilizer with increased use of Da Zheng Jin to enhance fertility resistance and improve yield. The base fertilizer should include 1500 to 2000 kg of farmyard manure per mu, along with 30 to 40 kg of compound fertilizer (25 kg of phosphate and 10 to 15 kg of potassium). At the 4-leaf stage or early flowering stage, apply top dressing with 10 to 15 kg of compound fertilizer per mu.
Field management includes timely inspection of seedlings after they emerge. Replace any weak or missing seedlings to ensure uniform growth. When three true leaves appear, perform weeding and soil loosening to promote root development. When the seedlings reach about 20 cm in height, perform a second cultivation. During the seedling stage, control underground pests using a 1000 to 2000 times diluted solution.
Harvest when the leaves are completely yellow and the pods have turned brown and are semi-dry. Harvesting too early results in underdeveloped grains and poor color, while harvesting too late may cause discoloration or rot due to rain. Pull up the entire plant, bundle them in small groups, dry them, thresh, and then dry, grade, and store the seeds properly.
