Milling machine common fault diagnosis

1. The rice mill is experiencing reduced output, which is primarily due to an excessive feed rate, high discharge port pressure, or a too-small discharge opening. Another possible cause is blockage in the discharge port caused by rice mash. This could be the result of belt slippage, worn rollers, or damaged rice knives. Additionally, high moisture content in the raw material or wear and looseness in the spiral head can also contribute to this issue.

2. The rice bran contains an excessive amount of whole rice and broken grains. The main reasons for this include a damaged rice screen or gaps that are too large between the screen sections. Uneven surfaces on the roller or improper alignment between the delivery head and the roller can also lead to this problem. Poor flow at the rice machine's outlet, thick rice knives, or incorrect spacing between the roller and rice knife may further worsen the situation. Instability in the machine's speed can also play a role.

3. There is a sudden increase in current surge, which can be caused by various factors. These include a broken feed inlet, a faulty pressure valve, a damaged rice screen, or a broken sieve bracket. Excessive foreign material entering the machine, failure of the outlet pressure gate, clogged rice screens, or poor rice distribution can all contribute. In some cases, electrical issues such as a blocked power supply might be the root cause.

4. The accuracy of the rice husking process has decreased, resulting in uneven surface roughness. This is typically due to worn-out rice knives or insufficient feed rate and low discharge pressure. Ensuring proper maintenance of the blades and adjusting the feeding mechanism can help restore performance.

5. The machine is vibrating excessively, and the bearings are overheating. This can happen if the shaft or pulley is unbalanced, anchor bolts are loose, or there is either too much or not enough lubricating oil. Contaminated lubricant can also cause bearing damage and overheating.

6. Unusual noises and odors are being detected from the machine. This may be due to loose or broken rollers, foreign objects entering the system, damaged bearings or seats, slipping belts, or loosened nuts. Regular inspections and maintenance can prevent these issues and ensure smooth operation.

By addressing these common problems promptly, operators can maintain the efficiency and longevity of the rice mill. It’s important to perform regular checks, clean components thoroughly, and replace worn parts as needed. Keeping the machine well-maintained will not only improve performance but also reduce downtime and repair costs over time.
