Brief Guide to Anti-Bacteria Disease Prevention and Control Technology Program

At present, the lack of efficient, low-toxicity, and broad-spectrum symptomatic pesticides often leads to serious consequences when major bacterial outbreaks occur in crops. These outbreaks can result in reduced vegetable yields, crop failure in rice, and significant losses in fruit production and quality for fruit trees. The current situation highlights a critical gap in the availability of effective crop protection solutions. Globally and domestically, there is still a shortage of varieties capable of effectively managing bacterial diseases in crops. In the case of rice, the only recently used drug has been methamidophos, but research from Nanjing Agricultural University shows that rice bacterial blight bacteria quickly develop resistance to this substance. Similarly, bacterial streak disease also exhibits similar resistance issues. As a result, the effectiveness of various forms of methamidophos has declined, and the control of these diseases remains unsatisfactory. For bacterial diseases in fruit trees, especially citrus, domestic and imported inorganic copper-based fungicides such as copper hydroxide, cuprous oxide, copper sulfate, and copper oxychloride are commonly used. However, these products often fail to deliver satisfactory results. They tend to cause phytotoxicity and may even promote the resurgence of pests like aphids. In the case of vegetable bacterial diseases, there is currently no highly effective chemical control method available. Streptomycin, which has been widely misused in agriculture, has poor field performance and high resistance rates, making it ineffective in controlling the disease. The development of *Thiobacillus* copper offers a promising solution to these challenges, providing an innovative approach to the prevention and treatment of bacterial diseases in crops. This new product, known as "Lonker" (Thiococcus Copper), developed by Zhejiang Longwan Chemical Co., Ltd., has gained recognition as a national key new product and is recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture for pollution-free agricultural production. Thiococcus Copper, with the chemical name 2-amino-5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole-copper, has the molecular formula C₄H₄N₆S₄Cu and a molecular weight of 329. It is a novel bactericide characterized by high efficiency, low toxicity, minimal residue, and environmental safety. The product is protected by independent intellectual property rights and has received numerous accolades, including inclusion in the national "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" technology support project, national technological innovation projects, and the Ministry of Agriculture's key promotion list. This new bactericide has brought hope for the management of bacterial diseases in crops such as rice, citrus, fruits, and vegetables. Its unique structure, broad spectrum of activity, and advanced formulation make it a powerful tool in the fight against bacterial infections. Here are the application methods for Thiobacillus (Loncobacter) in the control of bacterial diseases: **A. Whole-Course Application Plan:** 1. **Seed Soaking:** At the seed stage, soak seeds at a ratio of 1:50 (seed to agent) before sowing. 2. **Seedling Stage:** Use a 600-fold dilution to soak roots or spray during the seedling phase. 3. **Transplanting:** After transplanting, use the solution to root the seedlings. 4. **Early Disease Stage:** Apply 100 ml of Thiococcus Copper suspension per 100 liters of water (500–600 times dilution) for fine spraying per acre. 5. **Leaf and Fruit Diseases:** Spray at a 500-fold dilution, applying more than 50 kg per mu. 6. **Root and Stem Base Diseases:** Use a 500-fold dilution for root irrigation. 7. **Soil-Borne Diseases:** Irrigate 2–3 times with a 600-fold dilution, every 7 days, for a control rate of up to 85%. **B. Application Details:** 1. **Best Time for Application:** Prevention is key. Apply the product before typhoon season or early disease onset for optimal results. If the disease is already severe, apply once every 7–10 days for 2–3 consecutive times to reduce damage. 2. **Shake Before Use:** Shake well before application. If precipitation occurs, shake again before use—it will not affect efficacy. 3. **Compatibility:** Can be mixed with insecticides, acaricides, and fungicides, but avoid mixing with strong alkaline pesticides. 4. **Dilution Method:** Prepare a mother solution with a small amount of water, then further dilute with water before spraying. 5. **Safety:** Safe for flowering, seedling, and young fruit stages; unlikely to cause phytotoxicity.
